๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ ๐ท๐จ๐ช๐ถ 2025 ๐จ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ Dr. Helen D. Alalag (BS Nursing, Class of 1995 and Master of Arts in Nursing, Class of 2009) has been recognized as an L-NU Outstanding Alumni in Academe for her exemplary accomplishments and leadership in nursing education.ย
An accomplished nurse educator, administrator, and researcher, Dr. Alalag brings over 25 years of experience in the academe and clinical practice. She currently serves as the Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Baguio, where she has been instrumental in advancing nursing education, institutional governance, and student development.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science (2024) from Saint Paul University of the Philippines, a Master of Arts in Nursing (2009), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1995) from Lyceum-Northwestern University. Her academic credentials also include a diploma in midwifery and extensive professional training in leadership, gender and development, and organizational governance.
A dedicated researcher, her publications address vital topics such as nursing workforce management during the COVID-19 pandemic, student learning styles, patient satisfaction, and community health concerns. She is actively involved in professional organizations, serving the Philippine Nurses Association in various leadership rolesโSecretary (2017โpresent), Vice President (2024โ2025), and Incoming President (2026โ2027). She also holds key positions in the Cordillera Association of Nursing Deans and the Committee on Decorum and Investigation.
Her excellence has been recognized through awards such as Top Outstanding PERAA Member (Academic Head Category, 2024) and University of Baguio Top Performing Faculty (2024โ2026). Beyond the Philippines, Dr. Alalag is an international speaker and lecturer, invited by universities and health institutions in Indonesia and Germany.
