Today, on September 4, 2025, in honor of World Suicide Prevention Month, the Lyceum-Northwestern University’s (L-NU) Office of Student Affairs and Services (SAS) and the Guidance Center came together to host a suicide awareness seminar at the Le Duc Hotel, Dagupan City.

The program began with a warm opening message from the University’s Vice President of SAS, Dr. Eugene M. Reyes. Following his remarks, the Head of our Guidance-Testing and Evaluation, Dr. Grace S. Fontanilla, introduced the keynote speaker, Mr. Karl Anthony Rufo, RPsy.

In “Even Broken Crayons Color: Finding Strength in Imperfection,” Mr. Rufo

encouraged embracing imperfections, and finding strength in vulnerabilities. In his second presentation, “How to Help Those Who Need Mental Health Advice,” he provided a practical guide on empathetic listening and knowing when to refer someone to a professional.

The seminar reflects the University’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting student well-being and raising suicide awareness.
