L-NU Co-Hosts 11th HCU National and International Academic Conference, Showcasing Research and SDG Initiatives

Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU) co-hosted the 11th HCU National and International Academic Conference with the theme “Research to Serve Society,” held at Huachiew Chalermpraket University, Bangphli District, Samutprakarn, Thailand, on July 26, 2024. As part of the pre-conference event “SDGs in Action,” Dr. Cynthia P. Lopez, L-NU Vice President for Research and Innovation Management (RIM), highlighted L-NU’s initiatives in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrating the university’s commitment to global sustainable development.

Several L-NU officials actively participated in the event. Mr. Eroll C. Bravante, Head of Alumni Relations, presented his paper titled “The Art of Questioning and Answering in Philippine Pageantry” (see abstract on page 67 of this document). Dr. Nora F. Benavides, Head of the College of Arts and Sciences – Natural Sciences Department, shared her research titled “Teaching Motivation of Elementary School Teachers in Relation to School Heads’ Inspirational Leadership” (page 154 of the same document).

In the field of health sciences, Dr. Cynthia P. Lopez, VP for RIM, presented her study titled “Antibacterial Property of Soap Formulated from Combined Extracts of Red-Leaf and Green-Leaf Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Varieties Against S. aureus and E. coli” (see page 95 of this document.) Dr. Ellen A. Manzano, Dean of the College of Medicine, presented her paper “National Medical Admissions Test Score, General Weighted Average Grade in Pre-Medicine and Medicine Courses as Predictors of Physician Licensure Examination Score” (page 136 of the same document). Also, Dr. Rodney Odesson P. Raguindin, Head of the Center for Curriculum Innovation and Professional Development (CCPID) and OIC for Academic Affairs, presented his work titled “Assessing Nursing Students’ Competency from Instructor Standpoints: A Comparative Analysis of Traditional Classroom and Online Learning Approaches” (page 69 of the same document).

 

This collaborative effort underscores L-NU’s dedication to contributing meaningful research toward societal advancement and sustainable development.
